Elections Local Government 2008

"Residents Cried Out For Change, and they got it??". The New Councillors

Fresh blood demanded, attained I believe this not to be accurate as 4 Councillors did not run for a position on Council and obviously had to be replaced. Of the six Councillors that stood for re-election, four were returned and only two were replaced. The only fresh blood demanded of the incumbent Councillors running for re-election appears to be Andrew Isaac and Janelle McIntosh

18 - 19 October 2008 The Cancer Council

Hornsby Relay For Life set for 18 October 2008. This is a great way to raise funds to help win the fight against cancer and have a great time with family, work mates and friends

  • Teams Wanted. It is easy to participate, just get a group of 10 to 15 people together to create a team and be prepared to spend the weekend at Rofe Park. Plan the weekend so members of your team take turns allowing those that have other commitments at various times to keep them, the most important thing to remember is that one or more of your team is walking at all times to keep the relay going. Click here to sign up
  • Cancer survivors wanted. Join us on Saturday 18th to walk the lap of Honor (first lap) then join us for complimentary refreshments for survivors, carers, VIPs and dignitaries.

  • On the 15 September 07 we had a Rain Water Tank Workshop run by Hornsby Shire Council in our back yard with over 40 people attending. Scott Housen from Aqua Domestic Rainwater Tanks gave a well received presentation.
  • 14 September 07 F3 TO M7 REVIEW RELEASED. TODAY Minister for Local Government, Territories & Roads, Jim Lloyd, today released the report on the Review of the F3 to M7 Corridor Selection, saying that it provided a clear way forward on the project.
  • In the report it recommended that:

    • the preferred route follow the Purple Option and that this now be progressed to the next stages of investigation including: detailed design, economic and financial assessment and environmental impact assessment; and
    • a Option C (western) corridor be planned now.
  • MT ERRINGTON PLAYGROUND A fete was held on 28 October 2006 to help raise money for the replacement of play ground equipment.

The Quarry .....

  • August 7th 06 The Advocate's night of questions to Council was conducted well, approx. 1% of the shire turned out to listen to questions from the residents and the answers from Council. Virginia Trioli from ABC Radio 702 did an excellent job as moderator and kept the meeting in order. The Mayor with the aide of the Deputy Mayor and support of the Councillors, answered all the questions.
  • It is interesting to note a comment in the paper why the councillors where not answering questions at previous meetings instead of the General Manager, well we gave him the night off, Councillors only, and what do we get?? criticism for not having the GM there, some people will never be satisfied
  • 14 preset questions were given to the Council by the Advocate and were to be asked on the night, to see these Q and A's click on the link above.

  • August 29th 06 Council held a public meeting concerning the Quarry at Hornsby RSL Club, with special quests to help in answering questions about the cost set by the Valuer General's department. to read a copy of the transcript of that meeting click here

One quick comment about Mr Robinson and the time he takes to complete his tasks. He leaves no stone unturned in his research, and that takes time, I find his reporting to Council very thorough, although the wait is sometime annoying, it is well worth the wait.
