This column is my opinion on subjects commented in local papers . I seem to have a problem getting letters posted so I will have my say on my own website

Review of the M2 - F3

Actually passes the commonsense test, we need to relieve the congestion on Pennant Hills road now, not in twenty or thirty years time when we wake up to the fact that a western corridor suffices for the growth of the western suburbs and we still have a traffic problem on our surrounding main roads. A road out west will help but will not relieve Pennant Hills road to any great extent.

It was interesting to hear that when the Lane Cove tunnel was toll free, some petrol stations on Pennant Hills Road noticed an increase in patronage over that time, this gives the impression that a percentage of traffic that usually travels on the Pacific Hwy between Sydney and traveling north were using the Lane Cove tunnel and Pennant Hills Rd. I can see an advantage of the tunnel as not only relieving our main road but also helping to relieve the Pacific Hwy which a corridor out west will have little effect on.
